Your guide, Shiva Dhakal is an expert guide and most of all, a local who has spent most of his life in Kathmandu. Everyday (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at 9:00 am, the first shift in the morning and at 2:00 pm, the second shift in the afternoon, he walks through the city showing visitors the most exciting places of his hometown.

Afternoon Shift : 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm 

You will learn about the history, culture,rituals,religions,iconography and more about the local areas. Feel free to ask any questions and if you are interested in any special topic, he will try to include your interests in the tour! The tour starts from Thamel, just in front of the main entrance of Garden of Dreams and it will finish at Monkey Temple.

Day 013 - 4 hours walk through local street in KathmanduWe begin Free Walking Tour from the front gate of Garden of Dreams, a beautiful Garden in the east of Thamel, close to Narayanhiti Museum sharp at 9:00 am in the morning, and at 2:00 pm in the afternoon in every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You are given pre-departure information about the route, timing and the way we return back to Thamel again. We head towards the southern part of Thamel, and visit around Thahity. Then, after visiting Katheswoyambhu and Bangemudha, we take you to the local market area. We pass through oldest and liveliest, bustling markets like Asan and Indrachowk: visiting glass beads shops, cross the road and we will go to the northern gate of Kathmandu Durbar Square. From there, we go through typical Newari residential area named Yatkha and visit a local temple dedicated to mother goddess, Kankeshwori Chamunda where there we see a local cremation place for the local community. We walk again 45 minutes to the hill, the Monkey Temple, walk around and get back to Thamel the other way.   • Free Walking Tour Kathmandu is organised everyday from the front gate of Garden of Dreams, Thamel, sharp at 9:00 am in the morning and at 2:00 pm in the afternoon.
  • We expect your prior confirmation.
  • The tour takes about 3 - 4 hours that goes through southern part of Thamel, visiting local markets, local temples, stupas to the Monkey Temple
  • We can guide you inside the Kathmandu Durbar Square upon your request.
  • The entrance fees in Kathmandu Durbar Square and at Swoyambhu (The Monkey Temple) will be of your own.
  • Please take permission while taking pictures in some local ritual activities.
  • Walk around the temples and stupas clockwise.
  • If anyone can not walk up to the Monkey Temple, we can shorten the tour as per your interest.
  • If anyone is physically unable to climb the stairs, steps, we can organize for them too but should be informed beforehand.
  • Free Walking Tour is gratuity based modal, you could encourage guide for his time and experience if you like the tour.
