Amazing Langtang Trekking with Himkala Adventure

Amazing Langtang Trekking with Himkala Adventure

With Himkala Adventure I did a free walking tour of Kathmandu, a trek to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, and finally a trek the Langtang region. The walking tour was an awesome way to see the city of Kathmandu; all of its religion and culture, chaos and charm, in a gentle stroll. The Poon Hill trek was not so much a gentle stroll, it was an adventurous journey with incredible views of the mountains.

The Langtang trek, above all, was most definitely the most amazing experience of my travels in Nepal. The scenery, with the snow capped mountains, lush forests, frozen lakes and huge glaciers, was breath-taking. Within only three days of walking we came to Kyanjin Ri, a summit of 4800 meters and a great vantage point of the all that the region has to offer. The culture was equally incredible - the region is known for being highly influenced by Tibetan heritage, and this we found to be evident in the picturesque architectural style of the villages, the delicious food and the super friendly people.

I’m very glad I shared each of these adventures with Himkala adventure, Shiva was a great guide; knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible with where we would go and at what pace. Thank you so much Shiva! Never will a day pass that I do not look back on my time in Nepal with a smile.

Amazing trek and city and village tours!!!

Amazing trek and city and village tours!!!

I had always in my mind to go to Nepal and do some of the trekking. With Himkala Adventure, I did Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking and I lived my dream! I just had to buy my plane ticket and the rest of things were organized by the company: the transportation, the food, the itinerary, the accommodation during the trekking… and it was an amazing experience.

Village Tour with Shiva at Gorkha

Village Tour with Shiva at Gorkha

The time that I spent in Namjung and Bungkot was an experience that I will not be forgetting in a hurry. We awoke early to hop onto a bus that took us winding through the valley of a magnificent river with jungle covered cliffs on either side. After reaching Gorkha we made our way on foot up the hill to the lower palace.A magnificent structure that survived the earthquake and stands proudly in the mountainside. Beautiful, hand carved woodwork is a real highlight and Shiva explained the history behind the building and its contents. After the informative tour we made our way back to the bus station and jumped on our bus destined for Namjung. The bus was full of woman dressed in elegant red, green and gold dress due to it being the first day of the festival of Teej. A celebration of womanhood. After rather an adventurous bus ride, we arrived in Namjung and walked the short distance down the hill to the village where we were warmly welcomed and fed to our hearts content. After a long day I fell into log-like sleep. The following day we went walking around the paddy fields ingeniously created to grow a multitude of different crops in the hillside. They create truly superb scenery with fluffy clouds of mist making the views mystical. The following day we hiked to the next village, Bungkot, where I was accepted into the family with open arms. In fact, I was invited to stay in the village forever on two occasions. We helped picked fruit and vegetables from the field, showered at the local tap and generally partook in the slow and peaceful village life.

Great Experience with Himkala Adventure

Great Experience with Himkala Adventure

Shiva has been a great guide for not just Kathmandu but also other places in Nepal. His many years of experience as first a porter, then guide, then trekking business owner, has made him an expert in all things to do with Nepali tourism. His licensed training given him solid knowledge of all the historical sites and he blends these facts with his deep understanding of Nepali culture. I had the wonderful opportunity to travel around Kathmandu seeing sites like the Swoyambhunath temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and nearby Dakshinkali village as well. In addition he also took me back to his village near Gorkha and that was an educational and insightful experience! I confidently recommend Himkala Adventure to anyone who wants to experience Nepal.
