Show AllPhulchowki is the highest hill among others surrounded Kathmandu valley. It is 18 km southeast from Kathmandu valley. It offers the great views to the valley. Phulchowki is the famous hiking destination in its loveliest jungle around and the best place for birding in Kathmandu.
Starting at the Godavari Botanical Garden (1,520 m) and slowly walking up to the summit of Phulchowki hill (2,760 m), you can expect to see upwards of one hundred species in a day. Along the way keep an eye out for several rare birds such as the Spiny Babbler, Yellow – Throated Minivet, Tibetan Siskin and Mrs. Gould’s Sunbird etc.This is the home for 300 species of birds. The ornithologists say, the reason to be the highest number of birds’ species here is because this is the natural migratory path from the north to the south.
