Experiencing Free Walking Tour Kathmandu with Shiva Dhakal

Published Date :10 Oct, 2017

Hello! Are you considering doing the Free Walking Tour? It will definitely be one of the highlights of your trip and a great way to get your bearings in the city. I’ve done the walking tour with Shiva several times now and here are a few things that I’ve learned along the way:

http://www.himkalaadventure.com/free-walking-tour-kathmandu.html

-Buddha likes biscuits/ cookies
-Monkeys will steal your water bottle and your money if not secure. Don’t be afraid to chase them down!
-When walking around a temple or stupa, always walk CLOCKWISE. It’s good Karma!
-Spin the prayer wheels 1, 3, 5 or 7 times. Not 2, 4, or 6 etc. Only odd numbers, not even.
-Best way to heal a toothache: Nail a coin to a tree stump.
-You can get 10 whole Mo: mos for 120 rupees and a nice big glass of lassi for 70 rupees!
-There are 365 steps to get to the top of Monkey Temple. Get ready to sweat!

I also highly suggest you go on his walking tour both morning (9am) and afternoon (3pm). Again, I’ve done it several times, but each experience has felt new. I would pick up on new bits of information or he would take different paths (long way or short way- both are fun!). Most of all, the breathtaking view from the top of Monkey Temple is worth seeing in different lights. Absolutely stunning!

You’ll learn so many things on this tour and have a greater appreciation of the wonderful city you are visiting. Come and join us on our next adventure! And if you enjoy the walking tour, please look at all the other wonderful experiences Himkala Adventure has to offer!

Namaste!
